What text can I use as a watermark?
Any text you like — DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, SAMPLE, DO NOT COPY, your company name or any other string.
Is the watermark removable?
The watermark is embedded as a PDF text layer. Technically it can be removed by someone with PDF editing tools, but for most purposes (version control, marking drafts) it is sufficient.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The watermark is applied entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.
Can I control how visible the watermark is?
Yes — use the Opacity slider. Around 15–20% gives a subtle background watermark. 40–60% produces a highly visible stamp.
Can I watermark a protected PDF?
The tool can process PDFs that are open but have restrictions applied (like no-copy). If the PDF requires a password to open, use the Unlock PDF tool first.
